Robert Cerins is an exuberant and inspiring soul who delights in expressing his love for life through art, music, and other collaborative journeys. He savours the mediums of acrylic & watercolour paints. He is also proficient at sketching in pen or pencil.
He was born in Winnipeg, MB where playing the bass guitar was his first artistic outlet. When he turned 30 and arrived in Vancouver, BC that is when his professional art career started. He now calls Vancouver Island home. His artistic career flourished with a line of porcelain jewelry called “Art In Miniature To Wear”. Robert’s popular line of porcelain jewelry sold all over western Canada.
Robert’s next artistic endeavor was to create on larger canvases of, aluminum, wood and yupo (a plastic paper that is totally smooth), which brought him, successful sell out shows in Toronto and New York.
Robert thrives when the people who witness his art are able and willing to look at the details, as the details in his art are what feed his creative muse.
He is combining his love of painting with his love of jewelry designing to create a new line of jewelry that is joyous, lively, vibrant and bold, with a whimsical twist and a lighthearted flare.
The lines of jewelry he is creating right now are called “Original Art To Wear” jewelry made from his own original paintings and “Art In Miniature To Wear” jewelry created by taking Robert’s vast collection of original paintings, reproducing them in a small format and turning them into jewelry. These are just two ways he is creating joy in the world through the mediums of art and design. He thrives with the freedom the jewelry design and creation process allow him.
Robert went through a period of blindness as both of his retinas detached within 6 weeks of each other. He has found that creating the tiny details on small pieces of jewelry has rewired and repaired his retinas. He focuses daily on the physical and spiritual aspects of life as he creates art through his meditative process.
